Injured Cat Reunites With Veteran, His Family in Huntington

A retired veteran was told his cat should be put to sleep, but he wouldn't take no for an answer.

Tigger the cat is officially reunited with his family thanks to Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center in Huntington after nearly being put to sleep for a broken leg.

Gabriel Randall, a retired veteran who is currently unemployed, went to veterinarian after veterinarian on Long Island to get his cat treated for a broken leg, but was turned away from every one.

Some of the veterinarians suggested the cat be put to sleep at just two years old because the family could not afford the cost of surgery.

Randall was suggested to call Little Shelter, as it runs a program that helps families in need. The program saved Tigger’s life.

On Monday, Dec. 5, Tigger was brought to Babylon Animal Hospital, the office of Little Shelter's Medical Director, Dr. Frank Liguori. Two pins were placed in Tigger’s leg, allowing the cat’s injury to heal.

Little Shelter says Tigger will return to a pain free, happy life with his family.

The program that helped Tigger looks to keep animals who are loved with families who love them. This eliminates pets being turned into the shelter system and those at risk of senseless euthanasia.

Little Shelter is currently collecting donations to cover the cost of Tigger's care.
