Established in 2013, the STEM School at Jack Abrams teaches students to become scientifically, technologically and mathematically literate. Students use scientific, technological, and mathematical principles in real-life applications that contribute to the community, as well as create new ideas and products.

The elementary school, which was closed in 2010 because of concerns about violence in the neighborhood, reopened in September as a school specializing in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.
