Legislator D'Amaro Reminds You to Re-Apply for STAR Tax Exemption

TODAY is the Final Day

New York State is requiring that all homeowners re-register to receive their Basic STAR Tax Exemption. Unlike in previous years, anyone who has received the STAR tax abatement in the past will not automaticallyreceive it this year. If you have ever taken advantage of the basic STAR tax reduction, you have just one more day to re-register with the New York State Tax Department to receive this important tax abatement for 2014. You can re-register now by following the prompts after clicking here

Senior citizens receiving the Enhanced STAR exemption do not have to re-apply. The basic STAR tax reduction is an important step in lowering the overall tax burden for New Yorkers, and in particular, for Long Island homeowners. Once again, December 31, 2013 is the final day to take advantage of this STAR tax reduction so don’t delay!

My best wishes to you and your family for a safe and healthy 2014.
