Lidl German Supermarket Sets Grand Opening Date For Huntington

HUNTINGTON, NY — Lidl is coming to Huntington. The German food market announced its grand opening date will be Wednesday, Dec. 18. Customers can find the supermarket at 711 E. Jericho Turnpike.

The ribbon cutting event and grand opening will be held at 7:40 a.m., and kick off a weekend of get-them-while-you-can special offers, giveaways, and prizes for shoppers. The store, Lidl’s third on Long Island, will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

"I was born and raised on Long Island and I’m confident as soon as people try Lidl, they’ll be back for more," said Huntington Store Manager Francisco Cerna via press release. "I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to open Lidl’s third store on Long Island and introduce all our customers in the Huntington community to Lidl’s high quality and incredibly low prices."

Huntington Supervisor Chad Lupinacci said Lidl offers consumers a unique and modern approach to grocery and tipped his hat to the franchise's charity work.

"Their award winning prices and food are constantly rated at the top," he said. "Most recently, Lidl partnered with the John Theissen Children's Foundation to raise money for sick and underprivileged children. It is exciting to welcome a company who offers not only great products and service, but a strong allegiance to community values."

Customers will be able to take advantage of limited-time grand opening special offers at the new Huntington food market. The offers include:

• The first 200 customers will be presented with a special gift card ranging from $5 to $250 each.
• Raffle giveaway for people who sign up for the Lidl newsletter, with three people chosen at random to receive a $500 Lidl gift card.
• Shoppers can get free samples of an array of Lidl’s products and a complimentary Lidl reusable bag while supplies last.
• Games, activities, prizes, special deals and giveaways throughout grand opening weekend.

"I look forward to shopping at Lidl and to working with the company on issues of community concern."

Fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood, meat and plenty of organic items will be available at Lidl, something Suffolk County Legislator Dr. William Spencer applauded.

"Nutritious fresh vegetables and fruit are essential to a healthy life," he said.

Huntington residents and beyond are getting a top-quality supermarket. Food & Wine magazine recently ranked Lidl a Top-3 U.S. Supermarket, surpassing retailers like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.

According to Lidl, low prices and a vast assortment of goods are the backbone of the shopping experience. Products include organic and gluten-free items, American products, European specialty items ranging from hard-to-find cheeses to authentic specialty sauces, cured meats, beer, and other award-winning food. If customer's don't enjoy what they buy, Lidl will refund and replace.

Each Wednesday, food and non-food specials will be brought in for a limited time. The rotating non-food selection will include fitness gear, small kitchen appliances, toys, outdoor furniture, and more.

Lidl's produce is brought in fresh each day, and all flowers are guaranteed to remain healthy and beautiful for five days minimum.
