Local DAR Members Donate Nearly 100 lbs. of Jewelry to School

Ketewamoke Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution Amasses Enormous Jewelry Donation for School

With generous support from the local community, members of the Ketewamoke Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution were able to collect 3147 items of jewelry to send to Tamassee DAR School in South Carolina. The school, a private 501(c)3 non-profit, serves children and families in crises through residential, education, and outreach services. The sale of this jewelry through the school's thrift shop will provide funding to support their life-changing programs.

The donations, weighing approximately 100 lbs, came from DAR members as well as residents from the Huntington/Cold Spring Harbor communities. In total, there were ten large USPS boxes, far more than the organization ever dreamed they would collect. The DAR chapter would like to thank everyone whose generosity resulted in this outstanding donation.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, historic preservation, and education. Membership is open to any woman, 18 years or older, who can prove lineal descent from a man or woman who aided the cause of American Independence during the Revolutionary War.
