Here are the top four stories today in Huntington:
- Walt Whitman HS and South Huntington Schools place high in Niche.com rankings. Whitman ranked No. 5 out of 59 public schools in Suffolk County and the South Huntington School District ranked No. 8. Both schools moved up in spots from last year's rankings. (Huntington Patch)
- The Farm Italy officially opened to reservations today. The Italian restaurant is located at 12 Gerard Street and is owned by the same group that has Besito, Ballo and the Shed. The restaurant offers a wide variety of Italian dishes and describes itself as “a striking neighborhood restaurant and cocktail bar that brings the simplicity, beauty and seasonal freshness of local Italian dining.”(Huntington Now)
- Eastbound lane of LIE closed from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic at Exit 52 will be detoured to the South Service Road and you should expect delays. The closure is to facilitate bridge maintenance, weather permitting, according to the department.(Huntington Patch)
- Syosset BP robbed early Monday morning. Nassau County Detectives said a man walked into the store with his hand inside his pocket around 2 a.m. and threatened that he had a gun. He then demanded cash from the 23-year-old employee, police said. The employee then gave the man an unspecified amount of cash. (Daily Voice)
