Long Island Coronavirus: More Than 4 In 10 People Test Positive
In Nassau County, 44 percent of those tested for the coronavirus were positive. In Suffolk County, the figure is 42 percent.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Coronavirus hospitalizations and deaths are declining across New York, giving hope that the state has passed the peak of the new coronavirus outbreak. Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Saturday called for more federal funding to New York to put it in a position to reopen.
Cuomo said the state needs coordination and partnership from the federal government, especially for testing. Airlines and small businesses have to be funded, Cuomo said, agreeing with federal officials.
"When you fund a state government, you're funding small businesses anyway," Cuomo said. "And you're funding hospitals anyway. And you're funding schools anyway."
