LUPINACCI ATTENDS “STATE OF THE UNIVERSITY ADDRESS”

Earlier this week, Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) attended the “State of the University Address” delivered by SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher. During her address, Chancellor Zimpher highlighted several innovative new programs that will expand access to SUNY, provide a more affordable education and continue to prepare students for success in today's global economy. Zimpher also addressed expanding the SUNY Works program, a new task force of business leaders who will help SUNY engage Fortune 500 CEOs throughout the state to provide greater opportunities for cooperative education, internships, service learning, community service and clinical opportunities.

“SUNY campuses provide students from New York and across the globe with an education that ranks among the best in the nation,” said Lupinacci. “As the ranking member on the Assembly Higher Education Committee, ensuring that our students continue to receive a top-notch education is one of the most prominent issues that comes before me. I was particularly intrigued to hear about SUNY’s expanding role in on-line education. This type of learning can be especially beneficial for older students returning to the workforce who may be balancing a job, family and education.”
