Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) is encouraging local students to take part in the “Make Your Mark Contest” in honor of Black History Month, sponsored by Cablevision and the Smithsonian Channel. The contest provides a chance for high school students to submit an idea – a Mark – that will leave a lasting impact on their communities. The winning student will receive $2,500 toward a school or community project.
“With February being Black History Month, this contest provides our students with the perfect opportunity to see how others have left their impact on the community and how today’s students can do the same,” said Lupinacci. “I strongly encourage all local students to take a lesson from the men and women who helped ignite the Civil Rights Movement, and make a mark that will leave a lasting impression on our schools and communities.”
