Lupinacci, Raia Host Long Island Green Homes Forum

Lupinacci, Raia, Long Island Green Homes recommend helpful tips that reduce a home's carbon footprint.

Assemblyman Chad A. Lupinacci (R,C,I,Ref.—South Huntington) and Assemblyman Andrew Raia (R,C,I—East Northport) recently welcomed Long Island Green Homes to the Half Hollow Hills Community Library to recommend helpful tips that reduce a home’s carbon footprint, along with a homeowner’s utility costs. Long Island Green Homes, a six-town consortium, offers cost-free home audits, which help homeowners discover ways to make their living spaces more energy efficient, and protect the environment.

“It is important that we discuss ways to reduce our carbon footprint, while also finding ways to save money for the ratepayer,” Lupinacci said. “Through programs like the Long Island Green Homes Initiative, we can focus on improving our environment, and focus on the roles that our homes play in the process. We must make living on Long Island more affordable, and through preserving energy with common sense home adjustments, we can do just that.”

“Going green can be a scary thing for many homeowners, but I hope the forum hosted by Assemblyman Lupinacci and I helped answer some lingering questions,” said Raia (R,I,C-East Northport). “While the initial investment into green housing can be expensive, in the long run it not only pays for its self monetarily, but also environmentally. Ensuring Long Island is a clean and healthy place to raise future generations should be something we all strive for.”
