LUPINACCI TO SPONSOR FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN LEGISLATION

Lupinacci recently announced that he will support a bill that provides aid for schools to convert to full-day kindergarten programs.

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R, C, I – South Huntington) on Friday announced that he will be co-sponsoring legislation which would provide aid for school districts that convert to full-day kindergarten programs.

“Preparing our state for the future begins with investing in our children today,” Lupinacci said. “I’m very proud to support this bipartisan cause to provide school districts the resources they need to convert to full day programs, and I encourage my Assembly colleagues to join me in co-sponsoring this legislation so we can continue to invest in our children’s futures.”

In 10th Assembly District communities which have made the switch, advocates for full-day kindergarten said that more rigorous Common Core standards made the transition essential. The additional classroom time means that while instruction increases, developmentally-appropriate play and electives are not crowded out.

“Full day kindergarten will keep children’s minds active, allowing them to interact with their classmates more and better prepare for elementary school,” Lupinacci said. “Now, its time Albany join us and provide aid to school districts to help our children start off on the right foot.”
