Man, 86, Dies In Dix Hills Crash: Police
He lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, police say.
DIX HILLS, NY — An 86-year-old man died in a Dix Hills crash Saturday afternoon, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the single-vehicle crash took place at about 1:50 p.m. on Burrs Lane.
The man was driving a 2026 Subaru northbound on Burrs Lane when he lost control of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree, police said.

The man, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A passenger in the vehicle, an 84-year-old woman, was also transported to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip with minor injuries, police said.

The Subaru was impounded for a safety check, police said.
