Man Airlifted to Hospital After Being Hit by Car in Huntington Station
The accident occurred Tuesday night, police say.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY - A 63-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital after he was struck by a car while crossing Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station on Tuesday night, police said.
According to police, the man was crossing Jericho Turnpike at New York Avenue from north to south when he was struck by a 2002 GMC that was turning onto eastbound Jericho Turnpike from southbound New York Avenue at about 9:45 p.m.
The victim, who police did not name, was treated by the Huntington Community First Aid Squad and then transported via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. He suffered a head injury, but it is not considered serious, police said.

The male driver of the GMC stayed at the scene and was not injured. No criminal charges have been filed. Second Squad detectives are investigating.
