- Four people were charged with murder after a failed 2021 Suffolk home invasion. The two teen boys and two women were charged with second-degree murder for the botched home invasion that led to the fatal shooting of Louis Lombardo, 28, of Dix Hills, said Raymond Tierney, the Suffolk County district attorney. “These defendants allegedly conspired to commit a violent armed robbery, and needlessly took the life of an occupant in the home in the process,” Tierney stated. “Now, they will have to answer for this senseless killing.” (Huntington Patch)
- Weekend weather brings colder temperatures. The high today will be 37 and Sunday will only reach 40 degrees. The good news is there is no rain or snow in the forecast. (Weather.com)
- ICYMI: Escape Pod Comics celebrates 10 years. Menachem Luchins opened Escape Pod Comics in February 2013 at 302 Main Street and the business is still successful in 2023. "A big thing that we strive for is that we’re really trying to be a shop where anyone who walks in can discover what the medium of comics offers," Luchins said. "That means someone who thinks they know comics really well because they have collected them for 20 years should see things they’ve never seen or never thought of, and people who never read a comic book should see a large amount of stuff that actually looks interesting to them. That’s a little bit different than just trying to make sure someone walks out buying some piece of pop culture." (Huntington Patch)
