New Home for Huntington Resource Center
A grand opening is set for Wednesday at 11 a.m.

The Huntington Opportunity Resource Center will host a grand opening at 1264 New York Avenue in Huntington Station Wednesday at 11 a.m.
The event will recognize the partnership between the Town of Huntington and its community development agency and Suffolk County, as well as the various individuals and groups showing support.
Spearheaded by Huntington Councilwoman Tracey Edwards, the center provides an economic development and quality of life initiative involving shared by town and county resources.

The weekly services offered will include:
- resume and job search assistance
- eligibility screening and referrals to vocational and work readiness training programs
- referrals to GED, Adult Basic Education, and English as a Second Language classes to eligible residents
- eligibility screening for supportive services such as Medical Assistance and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- on-site referrals for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), temporary housing assistance, transportation, and subsidized childcare to eligible residents as appropriate.
All services are available in English and in Spanish.

The center will also include veterans services, pre-apprenticeship training, Council of Thought and Action, and additional support for youth programming.
