New Principal Of Harborfields High School Announced

GREENLAWN, NY — Dr. Marie Netto was appointed as the new principal of Harborfields High School at the district’s June 15 Board of Education meeting, the school district announced.

She replaces outgoing Principal Tim Russo, who was named the Commack School District’s assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and assessment.

“It is a true honor to have been appointed by the Board of Education as the next principal of Harborfields High School,” Netto said via news release. “I am eager to begin working with the
dedicated educators in the district to foster a positive learning environment where creative
educational opportunities flourish. While I am certainly excited to continue the tradition of
educational excellence at Harborfields, I am most looking forward to building lasting connections with all members of the school community so that Harborfields remains a place where students feel a sense of pride and belonging.”

Netto most recently served as an assistant principal at John F. Kennedy High School in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. She had previously worked at Bellmore-Merrick as Wellington C. Mepham High School assistant principal, English department chairperson and a high school English teacher.

Netto, who lives in Massapequa, holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Binghamton University, a master’s degree in English education from Hofstra University, and a doctorate in educational administration and supervision from St. John’s University.
