New York Presidential Primary: Voter's Guide
Your complete guide to Tuesday's presidential primary, including polling locations, absentee ballot information and more.

New York’s 2016 presidential primary election is this Tuesday, April 19, and Long Island residents, as well as others throughout the state, will be heading to vote.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Long Island. Voters can cast their ballots at assigned polling places. Find out where you can vote here.
Tuesday is also the last day to deliver absentee ballots in-person to the local board of elections.
The New York presidential primary is a closed primary, which means residents must be registered as a Democrat or Republican to vote.
Registered Republicans will choose from the following candidates:
- Donald Trump
- Gov. John Kasich
- Sen. Ted Cruz
Registered Democrats will choose between:
- Hillary Clinton
- Sen. Bernie Sanders
Heading into Tuesday’s elections, polling data from RealClearPolitics reports Clinton leads Sanders in the Democratic primary by a 11.7 percent spread, while Trump leads Kasich and Cruz in the Republican primary by a 30.3 percent spread.
There will also be a contested race for the vacant seat in New York's Ninth State Senate District, which was formerly held by Sen. Dean Skelos, who was convicted of federal corruption charges last year. The ninth district comprises communities on the South Shore of Nassau County.
Voters will choose between Todd Kaminsky (D), Christopher McGrath (R) and Laurence Hirsh (G) in the special election.
