NORMAN LEAR, the legendary, controversial TV producer, transformed the face of American television and culture with such groundbreaking sitcoms as All in the Family, Maude, Sanford and Son, One Day at a Time, The Jeffersons, Good Times, and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Winner of four Emmy awards, the Peabody and the Harry Chapin Award, Lear – founder of People for the American Way – was also awarded The National Medal of Arts by President Clinton for his progressive achievements.
