NY Jets Name Walt Whitman's Coach As 'Coach Of The Week'
Robin Rosa, coach of the school's football team, was granted a $1,000 reward for the football program as well as tickets to a Jets game.

SOUTH HUNTINGTON, NY — Robin Rosa, coach of the Walt Whitman High School football team, was named the New York Jets High School Coach of the Week, according to the South Huntington School District.
Rosa is due to receive a $1,000 award that will benefit the school's football program. He was also invited to attend the New York Jets vs. New Orleans Saints game on Dec. 12, where he is set to receive luxury suite tickets and be recognized on-field at MetLife Stadium.
"This award is for the entire program," Rosa stated via news release.

The Coach of the Week award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve, and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school, and their student-athletes.
"South Huntington is proud to have one of their very own coaches honored with this award," the district stated.

The Walt Whitman Wildcats are 5-0 on the season as of Monday. The team has earned back-to-back shutouts, defeating rival William Floyd Colonials 27-0 on Oct. 2 before blanking the Bay Shore Marauders 48-0 the next week.
Walt Whitman High School also received an automatic bid to compete in the 2022 New York Jets 11-ON Tournament. Walt Whitman High School is also set to receive 100 tickets to the Jets Play Football 2022 preseason home game.
Rosa is a former running back who graduated Centereach High School in 1978. He received a scholarship to continue playing football at C.W. Post College, majoring in physical education. Three years after graduating, Rosa started his coaching career at his alma mater of Centereach High School as an assistant varsity football coach from 1986 to 1990, where he was the offensive coordinator for quarterbacks, running backs, and defensive backs.
From 1991 to 1992, Rosa became head coach for the Centereach Varsity Football team. Rosa then became the JV football team’s head coach at Walt Whitman High School from 1993 to 1994 as the team’s offensive and defensive coordinator. In 1994, Rosa moved up as the high school’s assistant varsity coach for the offensive and defensive line, and in 1996, became Walt Whitman’s defensive coordinator as an assistant coach.
From 1997 to 2009, Rosa served as the assistant varsity coach at Comsewogue High School before returning to Walt Whitman in 2009 to become head coach. In addition to his coaching duties, Rosa has been serving as a physical education teacher at Oakwood Primary Center in South Huntington for the last 28 years.
