Overnight Lane Closures Coming To L.I.E. In Town Of Huntington
The lanes will be closed because of a pavement resurfacing project, which is expected to last for a few weeks.
TOWN OF HUNTINGTON, NY — Overnight lane closures are coming to the Long Island Expressway in the Town of Huntington.
The westbound lanes between Exit 51 (State Route 231) and Exit 48 (Round Swamp Road) will be closed starting Wednesday from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. because of a pavement resurfacing project, the New York State Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.
Traffic will be detoured onto the North Service Road. Additionally, one westbound lane will be closed between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. The closures are expected to continue for approximately three weeks, weather permitting, according to the department.

"NYSDOT appreciates the patience and cooperation of the traveling public and the local community while work is undertaken to help assure the continued protection of all motorists," the department stated.
Drivers are urged to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
