Pedestrian Seriously Injured By Sanitation Truck: Suffolk Police

The truck hit a person in the road Friday night, police say.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — A pedestrian was seriously injured by a sanitation truck Friday night in Huntington Station, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

The 61-year-old Huntington Station resident was hit by a Town of Huntington sanitation vehicle, a 1993 International truck, that was driving south on New York Avenue and West 11th Street, around 7:40 p.m., police said.

The pedestrian was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The truck driver was not injured.
