Police: 87-Year-Old Lloyd Harbor Man Masturbated While Luring Children With Candy

An 87-year-old Lloyd Harbor man who attempted to lure children to his car with candy earlier this month was masturbating in the car with no pants on, police said.

Galip Gulmez was arrested at his home on Horse Shoe Path Monday afternoon, police said.

According to police, Gulmez was sitting in his grey 2011 Subaru when he offered candy to children who were nearby at West Neck Beach in Lloyd Harbor at about 2 p.m. on Aug. 10.

A woman who was with the children approached the Subaru to intervene, police said. She noticed that Gulmez was not wearing pants and masturbating, police said.

Gulmez was arrested following an investigation and charged with public lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child. He will be held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday.
