HUNTINGTON, NY — Shots were fired at a man in a golf cart around 9:30 a.m. Monday in Heckscher Park in Huntington, Suffolk police said.

The shooter fled in a vehicle, police said. No one was injured, and an arrest has not been made, police said.

Detectives believe the shooting was targeted, police said.

Huntington Town Hall, the Village Green, the senior center and Heckscher Park went into lockdown for a few hours but have since reopened, the Town of Huntington stated. All schools in the district were also locked down, Newsday reported.

The Huntington Department of Public Safety was keeping the area clear for Suffolk police.
