Recovery and Addiction Outreach Center to Open in Huntington Station

The organization will receive $1.75 million in funding for the next five years to help those impacted by addiction.

A Huntington Station recovery and outreach facility will be among six centers in New York State that will assist those impacted by addiction.

The Long Island Recovery Community and Outreach Center will provide a community-based, non-clinical setting that is safe, welcoming and alcohol/drug-free for all members of the community.

“It is our intention in the midst of an unprecedented heroin crisis, to create a center that will assist this very vulnerable population on their journey towards wellness,” Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds, President/CEO of Family & Children’s Association, said in a press release.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Commissioner Arlene González-Sánchez announced Wednesday that Family & Children’s Association (FCA) will be funded through New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services.

Mineola-based FCA will receive approximately $1.75 million in funding for the next five years (or $350,000 per year) to help people in recovery and families impacted by addiction.

LIRCOC will cater to the community's specific needs by:

  • Providing substance abuse treatment services and addiction recovery support
  • Promoting long-term recovery through skill building, recreation, wellness education, employment readiness, civic participation opportunities and other social activities.

LIRCOC will be located inside St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Parish and complex, located at 11 Ogden Court in Huntington Station. It will be accessible during the day as well as evenings and weekends to assist all individuals and families in need.

The facility is expected to serve 250 individuals before the end of 2016, 400 in the second year of operation, 500 in the third year, 650 in the fourth year and 725 in the fifth year.

Andrew Cuomo and Commissioner Arlene González-Sánchez giving us the resources to create a long-awaited and much-needed recovery center on Long Island,” Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds, President/CEO of FCA said in a press release.

FCA’s key partners in this new endeavor include: The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, the Long Island Recovery Association and Families in Support of Treatment.
