Schools Closed But Polls Will Be Open

Though students will have another day off because of Hurricane Sandy, polling places at schools will be open Tuesday to voters.

In the Huntington school district, a generator will assist voters at Flower Hill Primary Center, which is still without power. The other school designated polling places, the high school, Jack Abrams, Jefferson, Woodhull, Southdown, and Washington, will all be open.

In South Huntington, voting will proceed at the designated schools, Countrywood, Maplewood, Oakwood, Silas and Birchwood. Because of a lack of power,  voting will get a boost from a generator at the District Office.

The polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. Find your polling place here. Gov. Cuomo issued an executive order Monday allowing voters in the disaster areas to vote at any polling place in the state if they can't reach their regular location.
