Second Precinct Commanding Officer Honored for Public Service

Insp. Edward Brady is retiring after 36 years with Suffolk County Police.

The commanding officer of Suffolk County Police Department’s Second Precinct was honored for his many years of service at a Town Board meeting on Tuesday.

Insp. Edward Brady, who is retiring from his position, was presented a proclamation that noted he has been a dedicated public servant who often volunteered his time at community events.

Brady served the Suffolk County Police Department for 36 years, 14 of which were spent with the Second Precinct. He served as a commanding officer for almost six years.

The Second Precinct is the area that covers the Town of Huntington.

The proclamation was presented by Supervisor Frank P. Petrone and Councilwoman Tracey A. Edwards. The police commissioner, chief of department and other high-ranking police officers were present to join in honoring the Inspector.

The proclamation states:

“His years of service have been marked by exemplary dedication to the best interest of our community and our citizens, thereby making Huntington a safer and better place to live.”

Petrone said Brady was a class act. “Always a gentleman, I have never heard this man say anything derogatory about an individual, I have never heard him raise his voice,” he said in a statement. “I only heard him when we sat, heard him in terms of his willingness to work out a problem and an issue.”
