ShotSpotter Alert Leads to Arrest in Huntington Station
A 24-year-old was found to be in possession of an unloaded 9mm handgun, police say.

A Huntington Station man was arrested for possessing a handgun after authorities responded to a ShotSpotter activation Saturday morning , police say.
Officers responded to 50 Lenox Road in Huntington Station at 4:51 a.m. to investigate the report of a gunshot and subsequently arrested 24-year-old Cristian Rodriguez for allegedly possessing an unloaded 9mm handgun.
Rodriguez was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He will be held overnight and scheduled for arraignment Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Shotspotter is a technology that uses microphones to listen for the sounds of gunfire and triangulates their location.
