Description: Join Dr. Renu Hausen and learn about the most common malignancy, skin cancer, and what causes it, proper medical evaluation, tips for prevention, and current treatment options, including the excellent results and cosmetic outcomes with nonsurgical state-of -the-art radiation treatment. Renu Hausen, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist whose practice is located in Huntington. She has more than 25 years of experience treating an entire spectrum of cancerous tumors. She specializes in highly precise radiation therapy for tumors of the brain, spine, breast, lung, prostate, and other parts of the body. This program is presented by the Huntington area libraries. Event: Long Island’s White Shark Research

Description: Long Island's coastal waters have an abundance of sharks, all of which we know very little about. In 2015, a small group of researchers were the first to deploy a satellite tag on a juvenile great white shark off Long Island’s south shore. Over the subsequent two summers, a partnership with OCEARCH enabled them to tag an additional 20 white sharks off Montauk. In this presentation with Chris the "Fish Guy," learn about the continued work of the Shark Research and Education Program of the South Fork Natural History Museum. Registration is required. Event: Long Island Lighthouses with Eco-Photo Explorers

Description: Explore the fascinating history of Long Island’s most interesting lighthouses. Eco-Photo Explorers will take the viewer from Coney Island to Montauk, examining lighthouse architecture, their technology, and the stories that make these vital structures such an integral part of our local history. In addition, the story behind Long Island’s Life Saving Services will also be discussed. The program concludes with a multimedia presentation in celebration of the dramatic beauty of these lighthouses both here on Long Island and around the country.
