South Huntington Teacher Of The Year Honored
Mrs. Rose Bunnell was named the school district's Teacher of the Year. She was recently honored by Legislator Susan Berland.

SOUTH HUNTINGTON, NY — Mrs. Rose Bunnell was named the South Huntington Union Free School District’s Teacher of the Year. She was honored by Suffolk County Legislator Susan A. Berland with a county proclamation at the school district’s 95th anniversary at the Board of Education’s January meeting at Walt Whitman High School, Berland's office announced.
Bunnell is the daughter of Italian immigrants who came to the United States not knowing English. This experience inspired her to become a teacher. She is a graduate of Commack High School and later attended C.W. Post where she received a bachelor’s degree in Italian language and a master’s degree in TESOL. Over the course of her 37-year career, Bunnell has taught both Italian and Spanish to students at Walt Whitman High School and has affected the lives of so many.
"It is my distinct honor to recognize Mrs. Rose Bunnell for being named South Huntington School District’s Teacher of the Year," Berland said via press release. "Her love of teaching is apparent, and the students at Walt Whitman High School are well served by her instruction, guidance and inspiration."
