Special Screening of Documentary Created by Huntington Native to Benefit ALS Nonprofit

All funds raised at the Thursday screening of "Climb For Kevin" in Huntington will benefit the Kevin Turner Foundation.

A Huntington native’s documentary about a former NFL player’s battle with ALS is coming to The Cinema Arts Center in Huntington on Thursday.

“Climb For Kevin” is a documentary that follows former Alabama and NFL player Kevin Turner’s struggle with ALS. The film shows what happens when a group of people decide to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in honor of the Kevin Turner Foundation.

The documentary was written and created by Jon Johnnidis, a graduate of Walt Whitman High School and founder of Axios Productions.

The Huntington Cinema Arts Center will hold a special screening of “Climb For Kevin” Thursday night. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the screening is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

“It’s a non-profit, fundraising event for an extremely important cause in addition to a very inspiring story,” Johnnidis said.

The Kevin Turner Foundation aims to bring awareness to ALS and to financially support efforts to study, treat, prevent and cure the disease.
