Students can also get a head start with a new instrument during the summer program. “Beginning instrument lessons are available in small groups,” Ms. Lynch said.

The summer program’s teen portfolio class will also return this year for students entering grades 9-12. Guided by certified teachers, it’s a three-hour intensive course that runs daily from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
“Geared towards the art-minded high school student, this course will concentrate on observational drawing and advanced use of the elements and principles of art and design,” according to a teen portfolio course description. “Using a variety of media, students will be able to grow as artists while creating a collection of works to strengthen their portfolio. This course is ideal for the student putting together a college portfolio, building a breadth section for AP or for any art loving student looking to further develop their artistic skill set.”
