All of the recipes in this volume were submitted by poets intensely in love with the poetic word; its playfulness, its solemnity, its healing powers and its magic. The anthology is comprised of 70 American poets with a strong representation from the Long Island region. Many of the poems and recipes in A Taste of Poetry began somewhere personal, beloved and unique. Many invoke the warmth and love of generations past, of relatives long gone who left indelible impressions. Many poems and recipes come from lands distant to American shores, both ancestral homelands and vacation excursions. Some poems germinated in times of challenge and transformation. Other poems have their origins in times of personal change. A colloquial synonym for the verb to meditate is, to chew over. I hope that you enjoy chewing over these poems and their partner recipes. Perhaps you will find some new favorites.
Enjoy!
