The awards recognized students in 25 different categories.

Huntington-area students, parents and faculty members walked the red carpet dressed in tuxedos and evening gowns on Sunday to participate in the sixth annual Hunting-Tony Awards held at John W. Engeman Theater.

The Hunting-Tony’s had 25 categories that recognized acting, singing, dance performances, stage crew, scenery, orchestra pits, costumes and technical productions during the high schools' extra-curricular theatrical productions over the 2015-16 school year.

The Hunting-Tony Awards featured a pre-show where student nominees, donned in tuxedos and evening gowns, walked the red carpet. The show featured musical numbers from Cold Spring Harbor High School’s “Jekyll & Hyde” Huntington High School’s “The Little Mermaid” and Harborfields High School’s “Anything Goes.”

“Over the past year, these students, faculty and staff members rehearsed tirelessly to perfect their productions, and their talent was evident from the fantastic student performances last night,” Berland said. “As a passionate supporter of the performing arts, it was my pleasure to recognize and celebrate all of their hard work. I am very proud of the abundance of talent displayed throughout the Town of Huntington and I wish all of the students the best as they begin to work on next year’s productions.”
