Town of Huntington's 'Movies on the Lawn' Series
The summer movie series kicks off in June with Star War's "Rogue One."

Town of Huntington’s Movies on the Lawn Program returns this summer for its fourteenth season.
The summer movie series, which kicks off Monday, June 26 and ends Monday, August 14, features popular films like “Rogue One,” “Secret Life of Pets,” “Moana” and “Sing.”
"This is great family entertainment. Pack up your picnic supper, blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy this summer's movie lineup,” said Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, who is hosting the series.

All movies begin at darkness, between 8:30 to 9 p.m. Residents are advised to arrive early. Various entertainment will be scheduled prior to the movie screening.

“Rogue One”
- Monday, June 26 at Heckscher Park
- Summary: This is the latest installment in the Star Wars trilogy that takes place in a land far, far away about the epic adventure of the Rebel Alliance’s plan to steal the secret plans of the Empire’s destructive planet killer - the Death Star.
- Rated PG-13
- Rain date: Monday, July 17
"Secret Life of Pets" + Basketball Shootout
- Thursday, July 6 at Crab Meadow Beach (drive in)
- Summary: The quiet life of a terrier named Max is upended when his owner takes in Duke, a stray whom Max instantly dislikes. (IMDB)

- Rain date: Thursday, July 13
- The Second Annual “Basketball Shootout” will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. on the basketball courts. There will be be two shootout sessions. Winners from the 5-7 age group and the 8-10 age group will receive a free two-week camp session at the Mercurio Basketball Camp in Greenlawn, the shootout sponsor.
"Moana" + Sand Castle Contest
- Thursday, July 20 at Crab Meadow Beach (drive in)
- Summary: An adventurous teenager, Moana, sets sail on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, she meets the once-mighty demigod, Maui. Together they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds.

- Rain date: Thursday, July 27
- Moviegoers are also invited to attend the Town’s Sixth Annual Sand Castle Contest at Crab Meadow Beach, which will be held prior to the movie showing. The contest is open to Huntington residents. Two winners, one for each age group, will receive a gift certificate to LaCasa Café. Gates to Crab Meadow Beach will open at 4 p.m. for those registered in the Sand Castle Contest. "Sing"
- Monday, August 14 at Peter Nelson Park
- Rated PG
- Summary: In a city of humanoid animals, a hustling theater impresario's attempt to save his theater with a singing competition becomes grander than he anticipates even as its finalists' find that their lives will never be the same.
- Rain Date: Monday, August 21
In case of rain on the scheduled rain date, the showing will be held at Elwood Middle School auditorium, located at 473 Elwood Road in Elwood, at 7:30 p.m.
Residents are advised to pack their lawn chairs at all events in case the drive-in lot fills early. Overflow parking is available and bus service brings people and their belongings to the beach.
