Town of Huntington's 'Movies on the Lawn' Series Returns This Summer
The summer movie series kicks off in June with "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Town of Huntington’s Movies on the Lawn Program returns this summer for its thirteenth season.
The summer movie series, which kicks off Monday, June 27 and ends August 15, features popular films like “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Max,” “Finding Nemo” and “Inside Out.”
"This is great family entertainment. Pack up your picnic supper, blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy this summer's movie lineup,” said Councilman Mark Cuthbertson, who is hosting the series.

All movies begin at darkness, between 8:30-9 p.m. Residents are advised to arrive early. Various entertainment will be scheduled prior to the movie screening.

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”
- Monday, June 27 at Heckscher Park
- Summary: Thirty years after the defeat of Darth Vader and the galactic empire, a new threat arises. Will Han Solo and Chewbacca lead the resistance to victory?
- Rated PG-13
- Rain date: July 18
“Max”
- Thursday, July 7 at Crab Meadow Beach in Northport
- Summary: Max is a brave military war dog who served overseas in Afghanistan. Following a tragic event, Max is sent to an animal shelter where he was saved and adopted by his handler’s family. A new bond and mission begins.
- Rated PG
- Rain Date: July 14
“Finding Nemo” + Sand Castle Contest
- Thursday, July 21 at Crab Meadow Beach in Northport
- Summary: After his son is captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, a timid clownfish sets out on a journey to bring him home.
- Rated PG
- Rain Date: July 28
- Moviegoers are also invited to attend the Town’s Fourth Annual Sand Castle Contest at Crab Meadow Beach, which will be held prior to the movie showing. The contest is open to Huntington residents. Two winners, one for each age group, will receive a gift certificate to LaCasa Café. Gates to Crab Meadow Beach will open at 4 p.m. for those registered in the Sand Castle Contest. . “Inside Out”
- Monday, Aug. 15 at Peter Nelson Park in Huntington Station
- Summary: This animated tale follows the life of a young girl named Riley, who was uprooted from her Midwest home and moves to San Francisco. Her emotions of joy, fear, anger, disgust and sadness conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school
- Rated PG
- Rain date: August 22
In case of rain on the scheduled rain date, the showing will be held at Elwood Middle School auditorium, located at 473 Elwood Road in Elwood, at 7:30 p.m.
