Here are the top three stories today in Huntington:

  1. Homeowners on Mclane Drive in Dix Hills dealing with a string of car break-ins. "My cars are 60 feet from the street - they are right on the side of my house," John DelMaestro says. "You got to have a little bit of gall to walk down the driveway to somebody's house to check that out." Thieves have been reported walking up and down the streets looking for open cars and multiple items have already been reported stolen. (News 12 Long Island)
  2. Vanderbilt Museum's third annual Bright Light event kicks off today. Bright Lights: Celebrate the Season, will be on Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 3-18, and on Thursday, Dec. 22. The event is a highlight of the holiday season and includes a children's scavenger hunt, a 15-minute Holiday Laser show in the Reichert Planetarium and Candlelight Tours of the decorated Vanderbilt Mansion.   3. Christmas ornaments decorated by Huntington Station class will be featured on tree outside White House. The ornament designs were decorated by students at Maplewood Intermediate School and chosen ahead of 4,400 other schools. The children's ornaments will be unveiled at the National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony this Sunday. (News 12 Long Island)

  • Huntington Union Free School District: The Blue Devil's wrestling team will take the mats today for the season opening tournament in the Louis D. Giani Gymnasium.   • Helping Hand Rescue Mission: The Rescue Mission's Toy Drive 2022 has officially started. They are collecting new unwrapped toys and gift cars for children age newborn though 14 years old.
