Voter's Guide: Huntington 2017-18 School Budget, Board Election
What you need to know for the upcoming election day.

Huntington residents will vote on the school district’s $126,213,223 proposed budget for the 2017-18 school year on Tuesday, May 16.
Voting will be held from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Huntington High School, located on Oakwood and McKay Roads.
The proposal calls for a 2.53 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 1.35 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state’s tax cap. It is estimated that the tax rate will go from $229.41 to 232.50 per $100 of assessed valuation, the school district reports.

Current Board Members are running unopposed for two trustee seats on the Huntington Board of Education. Candidates are Jennifer Hebert and Xavier Palacios. Read more about the candidates here.

A “Meet the Candidates Night” will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at J. Taylor Finley Middle School's Blue Zone main lobby.
Absentee ballots may be applied for at the District Clerk’s office at the Administrative Offices, located at 50 Tower St. in Huntington. The deadline is at least seven days before the election if ballot is mailed and the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered. Absentee ballots must be returned by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16 to be counted.
