Wildcat Nation Celebrates After Boys Soccer Claims AA State Title
It was Walt Whitman's first state championship in boys soccer and the school's first state title since 1992.
The Walt Whitman Wildcats boys soccer team became New York State Champions for the first time ever after defeating Ballston Spa in the NYSPHSAA Class AA Final at Middletown High School on Sunday.
The Scotties’ undefeated season came to a close after the upstate NY team lost to the Wildcats 5-1.
Whitman’s Michael Lorello and Witman Hernandez scored two goals each while Blake Aronson scored one.

Hernandez, who also claimed an assist, was awarded MVP of the game.
Eduardo Alfaro, Bobby Cerrito, Noel Reyes and Sean Zagorski played stellar defense in front of goalie Austin Salas, SHUFSD said.

It was Walt Whitman’s first State Championship in boys soccer and the school’s first state championship title since 1992.
It’s also the second year in a row a Suffolk County team won states. Commack boys soccer won the state AA title in 2014.
The Wildcats finished the season with a 20-1-1 record.
