Woman Dies After Being Found Unresponsive In Suffolk Pool: Police

She was pulled unresponsive from the pool on Thursday, police say.

HUNTINGTON, NY — A woman died after being found unresponsive in a residential pool in Huntington Thursday afternoon, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the incident took place at a residence on Rodsfield Court at 3 p.m.

Second Precinct officers responded to the home after a 911 caller reported that a family member, Marcia Amarando, was found unresponsive in the pool, police said.

The family member pulled the woman from the pool and officers performed CPR until Commack Fire Department Ambulance personnel took over, police said.

Amarando, a resident of the home, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Detectives believe the incident was non-criminal in nature, police said.
