Woman Found Dead In Long Island Sound, Identity Unknown: Police

LLOYD HARBOR, NY — Suffolk County police are investigating after a woman was found dead in the Long Island Sound off Lloyd Harbor Road Monday evening, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call reporting a body floating in the water around 7:45 p.m according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

When officers arrived, they recovered the body of an adult female from the Long Island Sound, police said.

The woman’s identity has not yet been confirmed. The cause of death is also pending, according to police.

The investigation is being handled by Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives, police said.

Officials said the Suffolk County Medical Examiner will determine the identity of the woman and the cause of death.
