2 Killed In Overnight Weekend Crashes: State Police
Two men, 51 and 25, were killed early Saturday in separate crashes in Islip, according to state police.

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY β Two people died early Saturday in two separate traffic crashes in Islip, according to police.
The first occurred before 1 a.m. on eastbound Southern State Parkway, west of Exit 42S, state police said. A 2020 Toyota Scion driven by Gustavo Santos, 25, of Bay Shore, was heading east in the right lane when it left the road onto the right shoulder, spun around and hit a tree on the driverβs side, killing Santos instantly, according to police.
The second collision happened after 5:30 a.m. on the northbound Sagtikos State Parkway ramp from eastbound Southern State Parkway, police said. A 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by a 29-year-old man from Freeport was leaving Southern State Parkway and entering the ramp, Exit 41A, when the Toyota went off the road onto the left shoulder and hit a guide rail on the passengerβs side, according to police.

The passenger, Silas Rosales, 51, of Freeport, was taken to South Shore University Hospital, where he died, police said, adding the driver was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
