6 Taken To Hospital After 2-Vehicle Crash In Islip: Police

ISLIP, NY — Six people were taken to a local hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Islip on Thursday night, Suffolk police said.

The Islip Fire Department and Exchange Ambulance of the Islips were first called to the scene for a possible heavy rescue at Union Boulevard and Islip Avenue, according to Islip's Facebook page.

Suffolk police said that a 2004 Buick sedan and a 2023 Honda sedan collided at the intersection around 9 p.m.

The driver of the Buick, a 57-year-old Commack man, and his 48-year-old male passenger, were taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the Honda, a 74-year-old Islip man, and his three passengers, a 62-year-old man, a 57-year-old woman, and a 58-year-old woman were also taken there for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Islip crews used the Hurst tool to extricate one trapped driver for treatment, the fire department said.

Multiple people were taken to area hospitals, all with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the fire department.
