86-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run

Update:
According to Suffolk Police, the car fled the scene in the hit and run crash that killed a pedestrian in Central Islip on Friday morning is believed to be a 2001 to 2005 Honda Civic four-door sedan.
The driverβs side, black side-view mirror is missing from the car. The color of the sedan is not known at this time.

An 86-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit and run crash in Central Islip on Friday morning, according to Suffolk Police.
Officers responded to Suffolk Avenue, 100 yards west of Wheeler Road, after a 911 caller reported a body in the road at 1:58 a.m., police said
Police identified the man as Willie Dinkins, of Central Islip, and found that he was struck by a car that fled the scene, police said.
Dinkins was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the vehicle or the crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
