TRAVEL ADVISORY: Overnight Ramp Closures at the Southern State Parkway/Robert Moses Causeway Interchange in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County (longisland.com) — Drivers in the Town of Islip should prepare for weeknight closures of the Exit 40S ramp from westbound Southern State Parkway to southbound Robert Moses Causeway starting Monday, August 24. The five-week project, running 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., will replace guiderails and requires a detour via Exit 39S and a loop back to Exit 40S.
3. Long Island Woman Pleads Guilty to Sex Trafficking Minor in Exchange for Crack Cocaine (longisland.com) — Islip residents should know a trafficking victim in a major Suffolk case was discovered on a boat at a local marina, leading to multiple arrests. A Bellport woman has now pleaded guilty to sex trafficking and related charges and is expected to receive a lengthy prison sentence this fall.

West Islip High School Ranks Among Top 30 In New York (patch.com) — West Islip families may be proud to know their high school just ranked 28th in New York and 3,013th nationwide in U.S. News & World Report's latest list. District leaders credit students, staff, and families in the Islip-area community for the strong academic performance and college readiness that drove the recognition.

LI Man Gets 18 Years For Stabbing, Strangling Sleeping Wife: DA (patch.com) — Central Islip residents are learning that a local man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for stabbing and strangling his wife while she slept, then later crashing into her vehicle. Prosecutors say the attack happened in a Central Islip home and followed years of prior DWI and other convictions, though the victim ultimately survived.
