Bicyclist Injured After Striking Trailer In North Bay Shore

NORTH BAY SHORE, NY — A bicyclist was seriously injured Friday when he struck a trailer while biking in North Bay Shore, according to Suffolk County police.

The accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. near the intersection of Wells Drive and Pine Aire drives, police said in a news release. The victim, Jeronimo Ramos, 59, of Brentwood, was riding a bicycle northbound on Wells Drive when he crashed into the passenger side of a trailer being towed by a Chevy SUV, police said.

Ramos was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of his injuries.

The driver of the SUV, Edison Gualacela, 39, of Bay Shore, was not injured, police said.
