Charles A. Mulligan Middle School Among Winners of 2016 Inviting School Awards

The local school was among a total of 8 Long Island schools to receive the honor.

Charles A. Mulligan Middle School in Central Islip was among a total of 33 worldwide educational institutions to receive the 2016 Inviting School Awards.

In addition, 7 other Long Island schools received the honor including: Commack High School, Emanuel Lutheran School in Patchogue, John W. Dodd Middle School in Freeport, Long Island Lutheran Day School in East Northport, Valley Stream Memorial Junior High School, Rocky Point Middle School and Woodland Middle School in East Meadow.

Schools in Kentucky, Ohio, and Georgia also won the award as well as several schools in China.

This annual recognition has been presented to a select group of institutions around the world who have created positive educational environments for their stakeholders using Invitational Theory and Practice.

As they customize invitational Education principles to their sites, and schools earn the award through a series of steps demonstrating their ongoing commitment to best serving their students, staffs and communities.
