Drunk Man Crashes Into Tree, Pole In East Islip: Police

The 24-year-old drove over the lawns of three homes before his van overturned on Saturday night, police say.

EAST ISLIP, NY - An Islip Terrace man was arrested for driving drunk after crashing into several trees and a pole East Islip on Saturday night, according to Suffolk Police.

Christopher Legendre, 24, was driving a 2012 Ford van at 11:40 p.m. northbound on Bayview Avenue when he lost control of the car and crashed, police said.

The van crossed over the southbound lane onto the lawn at 76 Bayview Ave. and into a pole, continued onto the lawn at 74 Bayview Ave. where it overturned and then came to a stop after crashing into a tree at 70 Bayview Ave., police said.

Legendre was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of minor injuries.

He has been charged with DWI.
