Firefighters Battle Islip House Fire

The fire started on the second floor of the home which was "extremely cluttered with contents," according to the Islip Fire Department.

ISLIP, NY - A fire broke out at an Islip home on Thursday afternoon.

The Islip Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at a Tappen Avenue home at 4:35 p.m.

Arriving firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions on the second floor which was "extremely cluttered with contents."

The blaze was quickly extinguished.

The East Islip, Islip Terrace and Bay Shore Fire Departments as well as the Exchange Ambulance of the Islips and the Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance all provided assistance.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Islip Town Fire Marshals and the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad.

It is unknown if there were any serious injuries.
