Man Charged With Stealing From 13 Suffolk County Businesses

An Islip man was arrested on Wednesday for stealing from a total of 13 businesses across Suffolk County over the past two months, according to Suffolk Police.

In each of the incidents, 25-year-old Donald Gennarelli would approach the teller and look like he was going to buy something, but when the teller opened the register he would jump over the counter and steal cash, police said.

It was discovered that similar larcenies had occurred in other precincts and a joint investigation resulted in the identification of Gennarelli as the suspect, police said.

Third Precinct Crime Section Officers Joseph Passantino and Matthew Fernandez arrested him on Wednesday at 2:50 p.m. in Islip.

According to police, Gennarelli was charged with larcenies from the following businesses.

• June 16: Dunkin Donuts on 411 Furrows Road in Holbrook
• June 18: Dunkin Donuts on 19 Bay Shore Road in Bay Shore
• July 1: Dunkin Donuts on 280 Sunrise Highway in North Lindenhurst
• July 4: Dunkin Donuts on 155 Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst
• July 5: Dunkin Donuts on 529 East Main Street in Bay Shore
• July 6: CVS on 15 West Main Street in East Islip
• July 9: 7-11 on 500 Islip Avenue in Islip
• July 11: Dunkin Donuts on 13 West Main Street in East Islip
• July 12: McDonalds on 4498 Sunrise Highway in Oakdale
• July 18: Dunkin Donuts on 13 West Main Street in East Islip
• July 19: 7-11 located on 4506 Sunrise Highway in Oakdale
• July 27: CVS on 1944 Deer Park Avenue in Deer Park
• August 1: Subway on 1105 Horseblock Road in Medford
• August 2: McDonalds on 340 Route 25A in Miller Place

He was charged with 14 counts of petty larceny and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, police said.

He was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned on August 18.

The investigation is ongoing.
