Man Dies After Being Struck by Car: Police

BREAKING: The incident occurred on Sunday morning.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY - A Central Islip man was killed after being hit by a car in Central Islip on Sunday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

Henry Alvarez, 32, stepped into the roadway on West Suffolk Avenue when he was hit by a 2005 Toyota Scion heading eastbound at about 4:45 a.m., police said.

The driver of the car, 22-year-old Jonathan Caballero, also of Central Islip, was not injured, police said.

Alvarez was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

The car was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
